Hawai'i Bottomfish Heritage Project

Description

Have you ever wondered why bottomfish are important or what it's like to fish for them? The PIFSC Socioeconomics Program and Pacific Islands Fisheries Group are collecting stories from fishermen who are experts in catching bottomfish. Bottomfish are found in such deep waters that it takes special skills and techniques to catch them. The "Deep 7" are the most culturally important and highly-valued of these deep-water species.
