DAIWA SS4000C SPINNING REEL, VERY RARE LIMITED EDITION, PRE-OWNED - Berinson Tackle Company

SPECIFICATIONS: Model: Daiwa SS4000C Line Capacity: 340 yards of 6 pound test line 235 yards of 8 pound test line 190 yards of 10 pound test line Gear Ratio: 4.3 to 1 Condition: Pre-Owned, rated an 8+ on a scale from 1 to 10 Here for your consideration: Daiwa SS4000 "Limited Edition" spinning reel This was top of the line reel (High end) made by Daiwa in the 1970s. Reel has really cool engravings on spool that look like Egyptian "Hierglyphics". The reel has brass gears mating cut from solid bar brass and 3 stainless-steel ball-bearings. Both main gear ball-bearings are supported by a "dedicated" metal support(strength/support). Daiwa states in the owner's manual: "The relief etchings on the SS Series reel are original Daiwa designs adapted from early fishing murals. This refers to the etchings around the spool. "The SS Series Reel is the finest open-face spinning reel in the world today" I believe this is close,if not the truth; Circa 1975. This example is in very good cosmetic condition and very clean. All functions operate properly. This says it all. All other Daiwas up to the recent Saltiga,used aluminum-alloy based gears(main gear). The SS series are cut from solid brass stock and finely machined by hand!! These reels were individually serial numbered. This number is on the bail spring cover plate(stainless steel cover plate). This is in incredible Vintage Daiwa: No way to upgrade on this one!! The SS Models were SS2000,SS3000,SS4000 and SS5000. Daiwa states for SS Model 4000 and 5000: Wahoo(over30lb.) Albacore(over 50lbs) Yellowfin Tuna, King Salmon-Trolling,Giant Tarpon(over45lb) Grouper. The reel weighs 23 ounces and has a 4.3 to 1 gear ratio (same as the Saltiga SAZ4500). It hold 50 more yards of 20lb mono over the Saltiga SAZ4500. This reel was the Daiwa "Dogfight" of its era!! (Circa mid 1970s)
