A 13-year-old boy attracts attention in Taça das Favelas and is invited to a trial in Corinthians | a cup of favelas

Jambeiro was eliminated on a penalty kick against Carlos Lourenço in the first half of the second edition Favelas Cup Campinas, but the main goal of the tournament, to give a look to the youth in the community, was achieved by one player on the team.

At the age of 13, midfielder Airton Júnior, known as Juninho, was invited to a trial week at Corinthians, his favorite team.

At a young age to participate (born 2008), Juninho made his registration, passed the sieve and entered the field last Saturday.

The team lost the match against Carlos Lourenço on penalties (4-3), after a 0-0 draw in normal time, but the midfielder’s performance impressed technical manager Sandro Silva, who is part of the Corinthians’ camp.

– We focus on a series of elements through criteria that have already been decided by the club. What caught our attention at Airton Júnior were some of the factors such as the relationship with the ball (nature), technical ability, personality, competitiveness (passion) and confidence. Our idea now is to evaluate within another context, at a higher level of need, to see its response, flexibility and other aspects that we often cannot evaluate in a single game – commented Sandro.

The probationary period will still be marked by the club, but Juninho’s mother has already begun planning to help her son on this trip.

The cost of staying in São Paulo is borne by the family of players. Of simple nature, Leide Leite communicates with family and friends who can help with needed expenses.

– I am already filling out all the forms they sent me and as soon as it works I will go with him to São Paulo, because it is his life dream, and I, as a mother, must be there to help him. Everyone says that he did not learn to play football, that he was born knowing.

Once the date has been set, Juninho should report to São Jorge Park on Monday for the day of the week’s instructions.

Training begins on Tuesday and continues until Friday. During this period, the youngsters will be evaluated by five club supervisors. Anyone who is approved enters the next step, joining the team with athletes who are already part of the club’s core.

– It is the best feeling in life to see my son achieve his dream, which is something he always wanted. It is the team of his heart. I was always with him in the training sessions that I was able to attend, in those championships I never lost a single one. It’s fun, great satisfaction. When he is on the field playing I feel the best feeling in the world. I love to see my son happy – Leide said.
