Hulk scored two goals in Atltico’s historic victory over the Copa Libertadores

A historic night for Atltico in the Copa Libertadores. With a 3-1 victory over Independiente del Valle, from Ecuador, in Mineiro, Galo broke the record and became the team with the most unbeaten record in continental tournament history. The winning goals were scored by the Hulk, twice, and Svio.

Atltico shared the record with Flamengo and Sporting Cristal, from Peru, both with 17 games. But, with that victory tonight, Alvinegro wrote with certainty in the history of the tournament.

The greatest unbeaten record in the history of Libertadores

Galo started the series in 2019 and has won 11 times and drawn seven. That year, Atltico had already been eliminated from the Libertadores group stage when they visited Zamora-VEN in Venezuela. A 2 to 1 comeback won the alvinegro Copa Sudamericanna team and established a series of unbeaten runs.

Out of the tournament in 2020, Galo returned to the competition in 2021. And he had a flawless campaign. The owner of the best performance in the group stage, eliminated the traditional youth of Boca Juniors and River Plate in the 16th stage and in the quarter-finals, respectively.

He then confronted Palmeiras. In the first game, Allianz Parque drew 0-0. On the way back, it was 1 to 1 in Mineiro and was handed a goalless draw as a home team.

This year, they started Group D with two wins (2-0 against Deportes Tolima-COL and 2-1 against Amrica) and two draws (1-1 against America and 1-1 against Del Valle-EQU). Tonight’s victory ensured Alvinegro’s record in the tournament.
