Argentine President Javier Miley will privately meet with a number of prominent figures, including top technology executives during a trip to California's Silicon Valley while on a tour of the United States. Press reports stated that he would take advantage of these occasions to strengthen trade relations with Argentina.

Miley told OpenAI and Worldcoin President Sam Altman about the “tremendous potential of a libertarian Argentina” during their hour-long meeting on May 28. Alex Plania, co-founder and CEO of Tools for Humanity, the lead developer of the Worldcoin project, was also at that meeting. This was Miley's second meeting with men. Worldcoin was active in Argentina in the summer of 2023 but faces political opposition.

Other notable tech figures on Miley's list include Alphabet's Sundar Pichai, Meta's Mark Zuckerberg, and Apple's Tim Cook. Miley will also meet a group of startup and AI entrepreneurs and speak at the Pacific Summit.

This is Miley's fourth visit to the United States during his term, which began on December 10 after the runoff. He is accompanied by a cadre of the country's senior officials.

Among the other figures that Miley will meet is former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Miley spoke with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on May 28. Miley and Trudeau reportedly spoke about the situation in Gaza.

Investment in high-tech would be a welcome boost to economically distressed Argentina. Although inflation in Argentina fell from 133% to 50% during his relatively short term, Miley remains a divisive figure at home. His frequent meetings with business leaders enhance his image.

Miley ran for office as a crypto supporter and promised to dissolve the country's central bank. He disappointed many of his voters by reneging on many of those promises.

However, Argentine and Salvadoran regulators met on May 23 to discuss El Salvador's experience with Bitcoin (BTC) as legal tender. Miley is scheduled to leave the United States on May 31 and attend the inauguration of Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele for a second term.
