The Dogecoin community’s dream of a Kapuso statue has come true

according to press release, a bronze statue of Kabusu, the Japanese Shiba Inu who inspired the beloved Doge meme and the Dogecoin cryptocurrency, will be unveiled at Sakura Furusato Square on November 2 of this year. The statue will serve as a virtual meeting place for Doge fans around the world, coming together to pay tribute to the profound impact that one woman, one dog, one image, and one meme had on the world.

“It is a pleasure to see this long-awaited dream of the Doge community finally come true,” said Gary Lachance, Dogecoin Foundation Board Member. “Kapuso inspired laughter and good will in countless hearts,” he added.

The campaign, led by the Dogecoin Foundation, Own The Doge and Atsuko Sato, owner of Kabosu, aims to create not only a tribute to a beloved dog but also a lasting symbol of positivity and unity.

The Kapuso statue succeeds in raising funds despite the challenges

The Dogecoin community, known for its humorous and charitable endeavors, I started Campaign in November 2022 with an initial goal of $42,069. In an amazing show of support, this goal was reached in just 72 hours.

Despite the significant market downturn resulting from the collapse of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange, which led to a significant decline in the value of crowdfunding assets, fundraising continued. This setback did not deter the relentlessly positive Dogecoin community, and they persevered with their plans.

Sakura Furusato Square, where the statue will find its permanent home, is a picturesque park often frequented by Atsuko Sato and Kabusu. It features an ornate Dutch windmill and will serve as the backdrop for this tribute to the world’s most beloved dog.
