The core mission of the Digital Energy Network is to advocate for Bitcoin mining and drive forward productive energy policy, with the aim of revolutionizing energy markets by supporting Bitcoin. The core belief behind this endeavor is that Bitcoin mining can help encourage investments in renewable energy, and enhance grid stability.
Featuring a strong membership list that includes industry giants such as Argo, BitDigital, BitFarms, Coinmint, Cipher Mining, DigitHost, Hive, Marathon, Riot, Sustainable Bitcoin Protocol, and Terawulf, this consortium represents over 50% of the Bitcoin hash rate in the United States and its goals . To reshape the energy landscape while leading the future of energy policy in Washington.
“We are thrilled to introduce our inaugural affiliate, the Digital Power Network,” said Berrianne Boring, founder and CEO of the Digital Chamber of Commerce. “Digital asset mining, at its core, is an energy and national security issue, and we firmly believe that Bitcoin will drive policies that unite all political stakeholders to advance this vital industry in the United States.”
Through advocacy, partnerships, and education, the Digital Power Network is trying to bring about real policy change in Washington. A spokesperson for the Digital Power Network told Bitcoin Magazine that their goal is to “form a powerful coalition that includes policymakers, regulators, media influencers, and economic stakeholders.”
In a collective voice, they will work with policymakers to get policy that makes a real difference for Bitcoin miners.
Jason Lees, CEO of Riot, emphasized the transformative potential of this initiative to drive beneficial Bitcoin mining policy in the US, saying: “At its core, Bitcoin mining turns low-cost stranded energy into a valuable commodity, which is why our industry has enormous potential.”
Through this initiative, the Digital Chamber of Commerce aims to lead the conversation in digital energy advocacy and policy transformation. Marathon CEO Fred Thiel also highlighted the importance of the Digital Energy Network, saying: “Having a voice like the Digital Energy Network in Washington is important to ensure the views of digital energy stakeholders are taken into account.”
The Digital Energy Network wants to position the United States as a leader in the digital energy revolution, by aligning economic growth with environmental sustainability.
This initiative has already made its mark on the policy front, especially by pioneering the introduction of the first pro-proof-of-work resolution in the US House of Representatives.
