Streich's Flex-O-Mino Red & White W/Box & Paper

Description

Paul Streich of Joliet, Illinois file for a patent on his “Flex-O-Mino” om March 20, 1922. The patent was granted on March 4, 1924. The 3 ½” bait had a metallic head with rubber body designed to flex while being retrieved to imitate a live swimming minnow. It came in three colors. The bait here is Style A, Red Head and White Body. As is the usual case with these nearly century old baits, the tail has become brittle and broken off, but the remainder of the body is still affixed to the hook. The broken tail piece is still in the box, which also contains the original papers. The box is correct, marked for the Style A. It has some fading, soiling and wear as can be seen in the photos, but it is solid. A seldom seen combo for the early miscellaneous or Illinois collector.

From the collection of Stephen L. Lumpkin, noted researcher, historian, author and collector of fishing tackle. Steve was known for his thorough and meticulous attention to detail in his research and writing. He was similarly thorough and dedicated in pursuing his collecting interests. This is a rare opportunity to acquire some truly wonderful vintage tackle from Steve's collection - a collection that reflects not only his extensive knowledge but also his joy and enthusiasm in employing and preserving that knowledge.
